Root Canal And Anxiety/fibro/Chronic Mouth Pain?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am wondering if anyone has had a root canal while having bad anxiery and fibro/Chronic pain?

If so was it a long recovery due to the sensitivities of our mouths? Did you have lots of pain during and/or after? How long did it take to recover?

I have very sensitive nerves in my mouth and it takes forever to freeze me, sometimes it doesn't work at all.
Thanks!

@A MyDepressionTeam Member glad it went well! I hear more stories about root canals going well than not.

I just had a bad experience immediately after, the root canal itself and recovery was fine.

My mom just had one recently, and her dentist did it less than 30 minutes, whereas mine took two hours. It really depends on the tooth and the person. Sometimes the canal is easy to find, and sometimes it's not. Certain teeth have more canals than others. (Mine was a molar and my mom's was a front tooth, but my teeth are way different than here's too. I inherited teeth just like my dad's. lol)

It's awful. Don't hope for the best- prepare for the worst. I've had 4 root canals and there's never a good time. It takes up to 2 hours. If you feel any pain, tell the dentist. Don't wait.

I asked to be sedated to have my wisdom teeth removed. It was more expensive, but I don't remember it and I recovered after a week total.

I have been lucky with my teeth and haven't had to have anything done. All I can do is wish you the best with having the work done. x

HI I had root canal a few years ago and I was really nervous and dreading it. Bit it was a piece of cake! No kidding. There was not a lot of pain after just had to eat more to the other side. I was very relieved. Good luck, you'll be fine

It helped a lot that I told the dentist about my anxiety and panic issues he was very kind. Kind of funny he kept asking me if I needed a break but I didn't so finally he took one.
